Channel State Information Reference Signal (CSI-RS) is a reference signal (RS) that is used in the Downlink (DL) direction in 5G NR, for the purpose of Channel Sounding and used to measure the characteristics of a radio channel so that it can use correct modulation, code rate, beam forming etc.
