How do anti Wrap bars work?

The anti-wrap bar will translate this rotational force into a directional one along the shackle. Rotation happens at the top two joints, and the rear portion of the shackle will go up and down while the front portion stays affixed to a single point.

Do traction bars help with axle wrap?

Traction bars are also vital on mega-torque trucks, particularly those that do a lot of towing and hauling. Traction bars control rear-wheel axle rotation (aka axle wrap) to ensure your pinion yoke stays where you want it.

Why is axle wrap bad?

It’s only a problem under hard acceleration, or when spinning the rear tires. The leaf springs will bend with axle to a certain point then they will snap back to there original form. When that happens repeatedly in succession you get axle hop. It can cause you rear U joint to fail and can ruin your rear diff gears.

What does axle wrap feel like?

It feels like a slipping clutch, or as if the rear tires are slipping and grabbing – kind of a lurching feeling while accelerating. Also, you shouldn’t experience axle wrap on slow starts.

Do traction bars affect ride?

Your connection at the frame needs to allow some horizontal displacement, that way the springs are able to rotate back and up. The bars will fight to keep your springs from flexing. As a result your ride can be compromised.

Do traction bars affect ride quality?

4) Even set up correctly, bars do reduce ride quality.

What is anti wrap traction bar?

With tall tires and lockers a traction bar is just what the doctor ordered. This kit will eliminate axle wrap and save your u-joints and leaf springs. The shackle on this kit can be installed pointing up or pointing down. This kit requires welding and general fabrication skill to install.

What prevents axle wrap?

Axle wrap is a condition that affects vehicles equipped with leaf-type springs under extreme acceleration and, occasionally, deceleration. A traction bar is a steel device that mounts beneath the leaf spring and extends forward to the front eye of the leaf spring and prevents wrapping.
